The Barbados Customs and Excise Department recognising the importance of exports to Barbados' economy, has adopted procedures which are designed to facilitate the exporting of goods while at the same time ensuring compliance with national legislation.

II

III Restricted Exports
The following goods require an export licence in order to be exported:

    a  Live Sheep and Goats
    a  Tortoise Shell
    a  Radioactive Chemical Elements

The necessary legislation is contained in Statutory Instruments 2004 No. 2 and 2004 No. 158.

Export Licences are obtained from the Chief Price Control Officer in the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development.

IV "Entering" Your Shipments
All processing of declarations are done online and do not require any submission of document to Customs unless you have been designated a yellow or red lane.

If you have been designated a yellow lane you must take all your documents to the Entry Processing office of the port at which the goods are being shipped. That includes all invoices, print out of declaration, certificates of origin, export licence, Central Bank Exchange Control Form and any other document required for the shipment of your goods.

If you have been designated a red lane you must take all your documents to the port at which the goods are being shipped. That includes all invoices, print out of declaration, certificates of origin, export licence, Central Bank Exchange Control Form and any other document required for the shipment of your goods.

Central Bank Exchange Control Forms are also required to be submitted for declarations designated green. These must be taken to the Entry Processing office of the port at which the goods are being shipped to be verified.

V Short-Shipped Goods
If your entire shipment is short shipped you may request the proper officer to cancel your documents. If however, only part of your shipment was shipped you will be required to reprocess the shipment of the remainder of goods.
VI  Examining Your Goods
There is a duty liability attached to some goods being exported. Examples of these goods include Ex- Warehouse, Transhipment, Drawbacks, Temporary Imports and goods subject to Value Added Tax. These goods are exported under Bond and the Customs and Excise Department reserves the right to examine these goods to verify quantities, descriptions, values, etc.
